Preconstruction Coordinator

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Provide support and assistance to the Commercial Department as needed to include but not be limited to the following items: provide plans for design and permitting; take lead on coordination process and provide coordination plans; provide spooled piece drawings for pipe fabrication; and provide assistance to field personnel, sales engineers, and managers as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Excellent computer skills are essential as the detailed use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD MEP (2D and 3D), REVIT and Navisworks will be a major component of this position

Coordination Projects

  • Detail a plan of action for the prescribed job coordination
  • Coordinate all aspects of mechanical scope. May require redrawing systems as needed
  • Coordinate openings in steel and concrete for equipment and ducts, as well as chases
  • Detail structural plans and identify bottom of steel elevations. Recognize sloped roofing and structure
  • Determine impact of other trades not limited to sprinkler piping, lighting fixtures, ceiling elevations, sloped storm and condensate piping, window mullion and misc steel bracing, wall construction type and scheduling
  • Effectively run coordination meetings
  • Provide problem resolution assistance to field personnel as needed

Design/Permitted Projects

  • Assist Sales Engineers as required with job takeoffs, loads, or design meetings
  • Layout the plans in accordance with the Sales Engineer’s design
  • Interact with architects and engineers to ensure that plans are coordinated
  • Coordinate with other trades to ensure feasibility of installation
  • Provide sufficient detail so that Construction can complete the installation with minimal questions. Review with Construction management to ensure satisfaction

Prefabrication Plans

  • Create ductwork fabrication plans including, dimensions, elevations, offsets and transitions as necessary for installation
  • Create spool piece drawings for industrial piping plans. Details to include pipe cut lengths, material lists and accessory dimensions

Quality Control

  • Review plans to minimize mistakes
  • Maintain organized record of outstanding issues, RFI’s and changes in design
  • Accurately incorporate redlines and notes into a set of drawings

Scheduling

  • Ensure that drawings are completed on schedule
  • Notify the Sales Engineers or Project Manager of any drawings, permit schedules, or pricing requirements that arise during process

As Built Drawings

  • Support the Construction department as required to provide as built drawings
